Welcome to Illoong Kwon's Home Page!
Illoong Kwon is an assistant professor in the department of economics at SUNY-Albany. Professor Kwon works on both theoretical and empirical research in the fields of Industrial Organization, Labor Economics, and Corporate Finance.

Current Research
Professor Kwon's current research includes theoretical analyses of patent races when firms have the option of keeping their innovation secret, empirical analyses of male workers' resistance to female managers, theoretical and empirical analyses of firms' auditor switch.
These research projects can explain, for example, why stronger patent policy has increased patent propensity but not the level of research investment, why the share of female in top managerial positions have stopped growing recently, and why firms often downgrade the quality of their auditors during financial distress.
Future Research
For his future research, he is pursuing the issues of post-merger integration, knowledge mobility, competition for talents, firm growth, and public options .
