New
Printer at GSO Office
****GSO
COPIER/PRINTER CODE (RE)REGISTRATION****
The
GSO is pleased to expand our copier/printer services
in the acquisition of new equipment. At the beginning
of this academic year we purchased two new computers
for the office adding an additional seat to expedite
the wait time. Then in the middle of September we
further enhanced services in installing the new Ecosys
Kyocera printer, the fastest printer in its class
printing 47ppm. And now we are upgrading our user
procedure by incorporate a NEW User Database to coordinate
with the NEW equipment. What does that mean for you?
Ultimately smoother copier/printer services, however
we will need your help to make this happen. Please
read the instructions below to see how this (RE) REGISTRATION
PROCESS will affect you:
All
copier/printer codes will be purged this Monday night
(October 9th).
You will have the opportunity to pre-register Monday
during the day. After Monday, you will not be able
to make copies until you have a newly activated code.
From Tuesday onward when you (re)register for your
code we will enter them into the system by that evening,
meaning you may have to wait until the next day to
use your newly activated code.
(1)
Please bring your Student ID Card to verify your current
status
(2) We will then ask you to enter your information
into the new electronic database a. Student ID b.
Name (First, Last) c. Department d. Listserv E-mail
e. Code
We
appreciate your patience during this time of expanding
GSO services to better serve you and apologize for
any inconvenience you may be experiencing.
FAQ
1.
Will I be able to print before my code is activated?
Yes.
If you are a current, validated graduate student and
you registered that day but your code isn't activated
please see the office manager to use the copier/printer
service.
2.
Why do we need to purge all the codes and reregister?
There
are two main reasons:
(1) We are in the final phases of coordinating our
new equipment with our IT services. (2) To insure
that the services provided are being used only by
current GSO members.
3.
If we registered in the beginning of this semester
why do we still have to reregister?
The
process we previously used (signing up on a paper
list for service) has been at times incomplete and
difficult to transcribe accurately into the database.
We want your information to be accurate and up-to-date.
4.
Why wasn’t this done at the beginning of the
semester?
We
had planned to purge all the codes during the second
week of the semester but could not due to the new
equipment being integrated in phases. We had to coordinate
with various offices to implement the IT system for
this service. The new User Database is a procedural
enhancement and will help our service run more smoothly.
