The African-American Scholar Society & Friends (AASS&F) is a recognized organization under the University at Albany Graduate Students Organization (GSO). Our great expectation is to share our history, culture, scholars (past & present), and the accomplishments of our historical trailblazers. As the present-day descendents of our ancestors, “The Antebellum American slaves, and The Civil Rights (Human Rights) Activists,” we hope to continue to reach for the dreams of total equality for all mankind. As we unite with those from other walks of life, we want to connect and develop a communal society of everlasting friendships. Through our academics, arts, and networking associations we extend our hands to all. All are welcome to come and join with us as we travel through this odyssey of life, which always seems to be in a state of changeability. Moreover, all are welcome to embark upon this great alliance of movers and shakers, but moreover participate in our cultural and informative events.
The
University at Albany Anthropology Student Organization,
AGSO, aims to promote an interest in and understanding
of anthropology, both within and beyond the University
Community. It's goals are to promote communication
between and among students and faculty of various
fields, though especially Anthopology, through sponsoring
lecture series, field trips and other activities.
The RGSO of Fine Arts
is dedicated in accessing the art department to all
graduate students, not just those enrolled receiving
their Masters in Fine Art or Master of Art degrees.
We want to get as many visiting artists that are working
to speak and give slide lectures and these are open
to all that are interested!! We have been hoping that
other grad organizations will join us for openings
at the Museum both in the public sphere and when there
are graduate shows. Our goal is to bring the most
current and contemporary artists to the school so
as to give the graduate students (and under graduate)the
best advantages in terms of meeting people and understanding
the world they have chosen and how to go about it.
The Athenaeum
The aim of the Athenaeum is to provide an academic, as well as social organization, encouraging intellectual discourse in any aspect of the field of Philosphy, and to serve as a community of interest and activity for its members.

Yoga Society RGSO
It
is a well known fact that a happy life requires
good health which essentially stems from proper
diet and adequate exercise. Negligence of both leads
to various illnesses, physical as well as mental,
which can severely hamper a student's academic career.
The SYS, in recognition of the above, has enforced
two programs, a Yoga class and a vegetarian cooking
class.
