Michael's principal interest is in the use of transit as a placemaking tool and as a springboard for the revitalization of cities. A self-described "infra-urbanist," he is passionate about the role of smart, reliable, and attractive urban transportation systems in the development of enlivening communities.

Michael is considering a study of the effects of urban design and marketing on the effectiveness of transit in emerging communities.
