Style
Sheet
There are a handful of writing
conventions that should be followed for writing assignments in this course.
-
All papers should
be typed.
-
All pages should
be stapled together.
-
Margins should
be 1 inch at the top, bottom, and sides.
-
Standard typestyles
should be used with standard point sizes (typically no less than 10
points nor more than 12 points). There are typographic rules associated
with the relationships of font size and line length.
-
A cover page
is not necessary.
-
Put your name
on your paper, but not your SSN.
-
Indicate the
page number (preferably in a header or footer rather than forcing
page breaks or hand-writing in page numbers). Your writing
program will do this automatically for you forever if you take
the time to set up a template.
-
Spell checking
is expected, but remember spell checking will not identify a word
that is spelled correctly, but wrong for the context (like using "hear"
when you mean "here").
-
Proof-read.
