This is what I said in class today:

there will be no quiz on Monday.  Instead, I will be in the classroom for the first 20 minutes of the period to collect homework which is all of the problems that were due after December 2, above the solid line below.  This homework will be graded out of 6 points and will be the extra grade I will use.  You can either bring the homework to the classroom between 9:15 — 9:35 on Monday or scan and email me a PDF by same 9:35 am on Monday.

There will be a quiz on this material; we can discuss this homework in the beginning of class.

Homework due Monday, October 31:

section 10.1 ## 15,16,21,24 (I did #21 in class but try also the old substitution u = 4 + s^2 and compare)

Regarding trig integrals with tan and sec, make up a bunch of different cases and try to find them, bring to class if you run into trouble.

Homework due Friday, October 28:

section 10.1 ## 3,4,14 also replace sin with sec and cos with tan in these problems and find the new integrals

Homework due Wednesday, October 26:

section 9.4 ## 6,8,9,11,17,18,20,21

section 10.1 ## 1,2

Homework due Monday, October 24:

section 9.3 ## 2,5,15

Homework due Friday, October 21:

section 9.1 ## 20,22,26, then find the volumes of the solids obtained by revolving the same regions about the y-axis.

Homework due Wednesday, October 19:

section 9.1 ## 1,2,8,9,16,17,18 and further problems if you want to practice.  The quiz question will look like one of these problems.

If you want to practice doing a problem with rotation about the y-axis, try doing that with the region in #16.  The quiz will be one problem with rotation about the x-axis.

I am not assigning any formal homework due Friday, but take a look at some first order linear equations among review exercises on pp. 414-417. For example, ## 21,22.

There will be Quiz #5 on Friday with one 1st order linear equation.

Homework due Monday, October 10:

section 8.6: cover the solutions and try to solve examples 1 and 2 on pages 409-410, then compare to solutions in the text;

do ## 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 on page 413

Homework due Friday, September 30:

section 8.5 ## 8,9,10,11,19,21,22

I will finish 8.5 with one more application that will lead us eventually to the topic of section 8.6.

A REMINDER: our first test is coming up next Wednesday.  There is no class on Monday, so Friday will be the last class before the test.

The test will cover all material unto now, including 8.5.  There will be 5 problems, each of them requiring about 15 minutes to do.  But you will have the whole class time till 10:15 to finish the test.

A WARNING: on the test day I will be coming directly to class at 8:15, not earlier, so most likely the classroom will be locked until I get there at 8:15.

Homework due Wednesday, September 28:

section 8.5 ## 1,2,3,4,5,6 and the remaining problems from the last assignment

The announcements I made in class on Monday is this:

1) there will be two problems on the quiz: one from sections 8.3 or 8.4 and one from 8.5

2) the first test will be next Wednesday, October 5, in class.

You will need to bring a pen/pencil, no calculator, I will bring the papers with questions and room to solve them.

This is a rather long list of problems.

Try to get through most of them by Monday.

The rest can be done by Wednesday.
