We are Retooling Our Lab Website
We are in the process of retooling this website. None of the links on this page are active. The new lab website will be radically different than what you see. With few exceptions, most of the content and links are out-dated. We've been just too busy over the last several years to keep after this in a way that we had intended. Please visit Dr. Forsyth's faculty page for now.

What Our Lab is About
The mission of our lab is to use scientific know how, with a focus on anxiety disorders, to understand and ameliorate human suffering. We have basic and applied lines of research underway, and much of that is framed within an approach known as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT, said as one word). We are addressing variables and processes that feed and maintain anxious suffering and researching how best to alleviate that suffering, within the framework of ACT.

We work intensely with philosophical, theoretical, and conceptual levels of analysis in our research, our work with clients, and in our lab. Ultimately, we seek to make a difference in the lives of those with whom we have contact. We are part of a growing group of scientists and clinicians interested in shaping the field of clinical science and practice in a way that is more adequate to the human condition. There is still much to do and a long way to go to acheive these goals.

Our professional homes fit squarely with behavior therapy and behavior analysis. Our lab is quite active within professional organizations such as the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science, and the International Association for Behavior Analysis.

We are deeply committed to our lab community, and share and give freely with one another. We also enjoy spending time together and do work and play hard. We welcome applications from those that have an interest in researching and learning about ACT, including related work on a behavioral analysis of language and cognition and/or emotion regulation. We encourage you to apply if this is a community you would like to be a part of.
