EMT - Basic Training

UAlbany does not offer a an EMT - Basic Course on campus.

Many classes are offered during the fall, spring, and summer semesters in the surrounding community.  Five Quad does not require incoming members to have any experience; however, once becoming a part of Five Quad, we encourage all of our members to become certified EMT’s.

Community CPR & AED Training

Periodically during the semester, Five Quad offers CPR and First Aid classes to faculty and students on campus at UAlbany. When a class is scheduled, it will be posted here on our website.  Contact our Community CPR Training Officer at CPR@FiveQuad.org if you have any questions.

We offer three different classes:

American Heart Association Heartsaver® First Aid

  • classroom, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies.

    Heartsaver® CPR AED

  • classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking on an adult.  This course teaches skills with AHA’s research-proven Practice-While-Watching (PWW) technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback and guide the students’ learning of skills.

    BLS for Healthcare Providers

  • to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.
