June 15th...even though it was Wednesday the Gunks were quite crowded. We were lucky to squeeze in on Handy Andy and have it to ourselves. Here are some photos of Ed and Juan on this thin, thoughtful classic. There are also highly recommended videos of Chris and Juan over on YouTube ( Platano 883's Channel).

June 21st we grabbed the only sunny day of the week and headed to the Gunks...Chris, Juan, Dan and myself. It was Dans first time there in many years and we were able to get two ropes on the Brat block, where we could do four nice routes ranging from 5.6 up to 5.8+. Juan will have lots of video that he took over on his YouTube site ( Platano 883's Channel). Here are some photos of us on Brat, Katzenjammer, Little Rascals and variations. First Dan explores the blasthole, then Juan on the Brat and Little Rascals, Ed on LR and then Chris negotiates the hard start to the Brat.

Last day of June...Steve Whitney joined us and we made a morning out of "No Picnic" , which is a favorite of ours. Here are Steve and Chris on the overhanging crux.

July 13th...a breakthrough day. Chris and Juan took turns leading "69". Without further ado, here we go.

Back climbing after several weeks off, we hit a beautiful mid-August day...low 80's and low humidity. We elected to go to Peterskill, where we climbied in the shade all day on the Breakfast Wall. Didn't see one other climbing party! Here are some climbs in the 5.4 to 5.6 range.

September 1...just after Hurrican Irene. We set up a rope on an un-named climb next to "Nice 5.9 Climb". I'd estimate this climb at 5.9, maybe harder. All the photos are of Chris who finally figured out a winning sequence after several tries on a muggy, tiring day.

IT'S LATE OCTOBER AND WE HAVE BEEN RAINED OUT HALF DOZEN TIMES OR MORE SINCE SEPTEMBER. ON TOP OF THIS, SADLY, CHRIS AND I ARE COMING TO THE END OF OUR PARTNERSHIP BECAUSE HE AND HIS FAMILY ARE RELOCATING TO ARIZONA. WE DID MANAGE TO CLIMB TWICE AND ENJOY OUR LAST TIMES TOGETHER BUT I WON'T BOTHER TO POST ANY PICTURES, SO, FOR RIGHT NOW, THIS PAGE IS ON HOLD.
