Materials: 1 ball each of light and dark colors. Steel crochet hook #7.

Sugar bowl: Starting at bottom, chain 58 to make 6.5 inches.

Rows:

1. sc in 2nd chain from hook, sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.

2. , 3rd, and 4th rows: SC in each sc across.break off, turn.

5. (right side) Attach dark, ch 1, sc in 1st sc, * insert hook in nest sc 2 rows down andf pull loop through, thread over and adraw through 2 loops on hook( long sc made);sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Break off, do not turn.

6. Attatch light in 1st sc of last row, ch 1, sc in 1st sc, sc in each st across. Ch1, turn.

7. Sc in each st across. Break off, turn.

8-13: Repeat 5th, 6th, and 7th rows twice. at the end of 13th row, ch3, turn.

14: Dc in each st across. Ch 3, turn.

15: Dc in each dc across, dc in top stitch of turning chain. Ch 3, turn. Repeat 15th row unbtill piece measures 4.5 inches in all. ch 3, turn.

To shape top:

1.(Holding back on hook the las loop of each dc, make 3 dc in 3 dc. Thread over and draw through all loops on hook) twice (4dc decreased). Dc in each dc across to last 5 dc, work offf next 3 dc as 1 dc (2 dc decreased); holding back on hook the las loop of each dc make dc in last 2 dc, dc in top stitch of turning chain, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (4 more dc decreased). Ch 3, turn.

2, 3: Repeat 1st row. At end of 3rd row, ch 1, turn.

4, 5, &6: Sc in each st across. Ch1, turn. At end of 6th row, brak off.

7: with right side facing, atatch dark, ch 1, sc in last sc * long sc in next sc, sc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Break off dark, attach light and repeat 5th, 6th, and 7th rows once more. Break off dark, attach light.

next row: 2sc in 1st st, sc in each st across, 2 sc in last st. ch 1, turn. Repeat last row 4 more times. Work 1 row straight. Break off. Attach dark and work st st in each sc of last row. Break off. Make another piece the same as this one, only reversing colors.

Handle (make 2):

With 2 strands of dark, ch 5. Join with sl st.

1: sc in each ch around.

2: sc in each sc around. Repeat lasr rnd untill piece measures 2.5 inches. Break off.

Cord: you will probobly do best to use commercially availible cord or trim.

or follow the pattern:

cut 5 strands of dark each 2.5 yards long. twist these strands tightly, then double the twisted strands and give them a scong twist in the opposite direction. Knot free end. make a template out of paper, and sew the word "sugar" on the piece through the paper. Remove the paper. Sew edges of croched pieces together. Sew handles in place.

Cream pitcher: Work same as sugar bowl, making only 1 handle. make cord of light color and spell out "cream" on dark side of piece. Finish same as sugar bowl.
