Simple Chair Set

Coates and Clark #7731, 1946

Materials: Crochet cotton size 30, Steel crochet hook size 10 or 11.

Chair back measures 11x16 inches, each arm piece about 6x 11 inches.

Chair Back:

First motif: Starting at center, ch 10. Join w/ sl stitch.

1st Rnd: Ch 3, 23 dc in ring. Sl st at top st of ch 3.

2^nd Rnd: ch 1, sc in same place as sl stitch* ch 10, skip 5 dc, sc in next dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 10, sl stitch in 1^st sc.

3^rd Rnd: Sl stitch in loop, ch 3, 4 dc in same loop, * (ch 3, 5 dc in same loop) twice; 5 dc in next loop. Repeat from * around. Sl st in top st of ch 3. Break off.

Second Motif: Work first 2 rnds as for first motif.

3^rd rnd: Sl stitch in loop, ch 3, 4 dc in same loop, ch 3, 5 dc in same loop, ch 1, sl st in corresponding loop on first motif, ch 1, 5 dc in same loop on second motif, 5 dc in next loop, ch 1, sl st in corresponding loop on first motif, ch 1, 5 dc in same loop on second motif and complete rnd as for firt motif (no more joinings).

Make 9x 13 motifs, joining to adjacent sides as second motif was joined to first motif.

Arm pieces:

Make 5x9 motifs for each arm piece, joining motifs as for chair back.
