
ROWS OF TRIPLE TREBLE CROCHET
Abbreviation — tr tr
Make a chain of 20 stitches.
1. Thread over hook 4 times, insert hook in
7th ch from hook and draw a loop through (6 loops on hook); thread over (Fig. 58) and
draw through 2 loops at a time 5 times—this completes a triple treble (tr tr). Make a tr tr in
each ch across. Ch 6 to turn. The turning ch-6 counts as the first tr tr on next row,
therefore the first tr tr of each row is always skipped.
2. Continue as for other practice pieces.
TREBLE AND CROSS STITCH ASCOT
Materials: Pearl Cotton, Size 5, 4 balls ... Steel Crochet Hook No. 1.
Starting at short end, ch 80 to measure 9 inches.
1st row: Tr in 5th ch from hook, * ch 3, skip 3 ch, tr in next 2 ch.
Repeat from * across (15 sps). Ch 1, turn.
2nd row: Sc in first 2 tr, * ch 3, skip 3 ch, sc in next 2 tr.
Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last tr and in turning chain.
Ch 4, turn. 3rd row: Skip 1st sc, * tr in next Sc, ch 3, tr in next sc, make a
cross stitch—to make a cross stitch, thread over twice, insert
hook in next sc
and draw loop through, thread over and draw through 2 loops; thread
over,
insert hook in next sc and draw loop through, thread over and draw through 2
loops at a time twice—this is center of cross stitch

. Repeat from * across, ending with tr in last 2 sc. Ch 1, turn.
4th row: Sc in first 2 tr, * ch 3, sc in next tr, Sc in leg of cross stitch,
ch 3, sc in next leg of cross stitch, sc in next tr. Repeat from * across, ending with sc
in last tr and in turning chain. Ch 4, turn.
5th row: Skip 1st sc, tr in next sc, ch 3, tr in next 2 Sc,
* ch 3, tr in next Sc, make a cross stitch as before, tr in next Sc. Repeat from * across, ending with
(ch 3, tr in next 2 sc) twice. Ch 1, turn.
6th row: Sc in first 2 tr, ch 3, sc in next 2 tr, * ch 3, sc in next tr,
sc in leg of cross stitch, ch 3, sc in next leg of cross stitch, sc in next tr. Repeat from
across, ending with ch 3, sc in next 2 tr, ch 3, sc in last tr and in turning chain. Ch 4, turn.
The 3rd to 6th rows constitute the pattern. Work in pattern until piece measures 8 inches,
ending with the 6th row.
Next row: * Tr in next ch-3 loop, ch 1. Repent from * across, ending with ch 1, tr in last sc. Ch 5, turn.
Following row: * Tr in next tr, ch 1. Repeat from * across, ending with ch 1, tr in top of turning chain.
Ch 5, turn. Repeat the last row until piece measures 17 inches in
all. Break off. This completes one half of Ascot. Make another half like this.
Sew the last row of each half together neatly. Trim as desired.
