      SCOPE:

            This set reproduces all communication known to have been received by the Department of State from the consular representatives of the United States Puerto Rico from 1821-1899.

      ARRANGEMENT:

            Reel 1: Registers, 1828-1870.

            Reels 2-21: Consular communications from San Juan, 1821-1899.

            Reels 22-23: Consular communications from Guayama, 1828-1850.

            Reels 24-28: Consular communications from Ponce, 1828-1866, 1877-1885.

            Reels 29-31: Consular communications from Mayagues, 1828-1850, 1880-1892.

      FINDING AIDS:

            The first reel contains a register of correspondence, 1828-1870. The beginning of each reel lists the officials whose correspondence is reproduced.
