      SCOPE:

            This set reproduces the 30 volumes of Union and Confederate naval documents, including maps, charts, and illustrations, issued by the U.S. Government from 1894-1922. Many of these records are now in the National Archives, but the compilation contains many Confederate records, now lost. This library also has the printed edition, including the index.

      ARRANGEMENT:

            Reels 1-12: Index and Series I, Vols. 1-27.

            Reels 13-14: Series II, Vols. 1-3.

      FINDING AIDS:

            The first reel contains a subject index, which refers the reader to the series and volume. Each volume has its own index which must be consulted for detailed references and page numbers.
