American Fiction 1774-1900: Lyle H. Wright. Louisville, Kentucky: Lost Cause Press.

This collection, based primarily on Lyle H. Wright's bibliographies, cited below, contains approximately 1,275 titles of fiction published from 1774-1900. In addition to copies of works by the standard American writers, this set contains reproductions of popular fiction which help illustrate the concern and attitudes of the period in such areas as slavery, the Civil War, the temperance movement, the West, and women's rights.

Approximately 750 items have been cataloged individually and these are arranged by call number in the Microform Room's collections. The remaining are filed in the CRD section in drawers labeled LOST CAUSE PRESS, by University at Albany accession number order.

The online catalog is the main finding aid for cataloged items. Some, though not all, order slips for uncataloged items, which include the accession number, are filed, by title only, in the card catalog.
