Gray, William S. The William S. Gray Collection in Reading. Manhasset, NY: Alvina Trent Burrows Institute, 1976.
William S. Gray was a professor at the University of Chicago with " a unique collection of reading research documents ranked by many experts as the most comprehensive compilation of current and retrospective published research in any domain in the field of education." This set reproduces some 9000 titles from key journals, books, and research reports, published between 1884 and June 1976. Among the topics covered are summaries of research in reading, teaching reading, physiology and psychology of reading, bilingualism, and linguistic studies related to reading.
Numerically by microfiche (MF) number.
A looseleaf folder near the collection contains an author/alphabetical index, and author/chronological index, and a subject index, which refer the reader to one of 15 boxes of a more detailed index. This index gives the reader the appropriate MF number.
