What are the problems?

question mark

The problems that are found in Minority-Serving Institutions are:

  • MSIs are challenged by lack of funding to improve and support technology programs.

  • There are limited or no distance learning courses

  • Fewer students attending MSIs own personal computers and rely heavily on the computers of the institutions.

  • Students are graduating with less computer skills making them less competitive for employment.

  • MSIs, when in comparison to predominately white-serving institutions in the U.S. technologies are outdated and are unable to grant students the opportunity to access the same technological resources.

  • From software to university systems and networks, MSIs fall short. This is primarily as a result of the lack of funding for such programs.
