Movie about World War II in Asia. Participants and Volunteers
wanted.
Dear fellow students,
CCC (Chinese Community Center "Hua She") is sponsoring an event
promoting a movie about World War II history in China. The movie is
filmed by R. Joseph, Ph.D, telling the story about what had happened
in Nanjing, China, during the WWII. It suppose to be a good event
letting people know the truth. Participation in this event is highly
appreciated. If you would like to see the movie, you can go to the
Schenectady this Saturday. You can find the information about this
movie in this following link. Also you can find the driving

Also, attached are posters about this event. We have already posted
up many of them around campus center. If you think that it is OK to
post in you apartment area, feel free to print out the attachment,
and help us to spread the information. If you need hard copies that
ready to be posted, you can reply the email, we will let you know.
Also director of this event invite you to be a volunteer of the
event. It should be some easy helping jobs, like decorating the
hall. If you would like to contribute your help, they will let you

The CSSA Welcome Lunch Party 2005
The CSSA is organizing a welcome party for new incoming
Chinese students and scholars at
Capital Buffet from 11:30 am
to 2:30 pm, Saturday, August 27th. This shall be an excellent
opportunity for new students to learn about various aspects of life
in Albany, a good chance to get to know the senior students and
fellow new students. All new students are welcome to join us and
we will arrange car pool to get everyone to the buffet.
Senior students are also welcome to join but please
register ASAP because of seats availability.
Please find the details below.
Time: Saturday, 08/27/2005; Car pool leaves Collins Circle at 11:00 am.
Location: Capital Buffet, 145 Wolf Road.
Costs: 3 dollars/each.
Registration: register before 9 pm, Thursday, August 25th
by emailing to cssa@albany.edu or calling Xu Jia at 518-894-8896,
please include your name, program and contact information.

The Summer Hit of 2005: the Release of the Chinese Student Handbook
With the purpose of serving the Chinese students community at
SUNY--Albany, the UA-CSSA E-board of 2005--2006 hits the first
target on its agenda, bringing to the public the
Chinese
Students Handbook today. This handbook aims to be an
informative guide of study and living for all Chinese students at
the University at Albany, covering topics such as study, shopping,
banking, housing, transportation, and extracurricular activities at
the Albany district.
The electronic version of the handbook is open to public access
at the UA-CSSA website. Every new student of this Fall semester is
eligible to get a hard copy for free after arriving at Albany. More
hard copies of the handbook will soon be available at the Graduate
Student Organization Office (Campus Center 165B), International
Student Services Office (LI-85), and the CSSA E-board's local
sponsors' sites. |

ICHIBAN Restaurant and Capital Buffet Join the
UA-CSSA Sponsors Team
The UA-CSSA sponsor team is growing up with the coming of several
new sponsors
including Ichiban Japanese and Chinese Restaurant, Capital Buffet,
and Dragon City, etc. These friendly sponsors made their generous
donation to the printing and publishing of the 1st edition
Chinese
Students Handbook. A special thanks to all of them for their support
and generosity, without which the publication of the Handbook can
not be completed so smoothly. |

2005-2006 UAlbany CSSA New President
Junru Ruan and Executive Board Members are On Board!
The CSSA Executive Board at the SUNY--Albany is pleased to announce the newly
on-board President and E-board members. Junru Ruan, 2nd year PhD
student from the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering, was
voted to be the CSSA E-board President for the academic year of
2005--2006 (See the Greetings from UAlbany-CSSA President). Detailed
information on E-board teams and departments please find in the
table of 2005-2006

你们好!我是阮俊儒,在接下来的一个学年里,我很荣幸能以CSSA主席的身份为在UAlbany的中国学生、学者服务。
去年,作为CSSA的普通一员,我有幸能和邸明主席及其他执委会成员一道,参与组织了几个令人难忘的大型活动。我清楚地记得,去年的几个晚会上的欢声笑语和喜气洋洋,中国同学们尽兴而归,也给外国同学带来了中国文化带来的巨大冲击。但是这些都没有给我留下最深刻印象,让我最为难忘的,却是亲眼见证了执委会成员们的艰辛,亲身感受到他们对中国同学服务的一片诚挚的热情。他们在极有限的资金支持下,付出了大量课余时间,为中国学生营造了良好的交流环境,在学校里树立了中国学生的良好形象。是你们为我们新一届的执委会做出了最好的榜样,能从你们手里接过为中国学生服务的大旗,是我们的荣幸!在这里,我恳请所有的中国学生、学者,所有关心中国学生的社团组织,请你们监督我和新一届执委会全体成员的工作,我们会为你们更加努力,为你们而做得更好!
随信给你们附上的是我们新一届CSSA的执行委员会成员名单。在新的一学年里,我们将尽我们的最大努力,为中国学生服务。接下来的一个学期里面,我们准备组织的活动将包括:
一、新生的接机、住宿和Orientation:
我们已经编纂出内容丰富的、主要针对新生的《华人学生生活指南》,马上就会付印。我们也在密锣紧鼓地为新生准备着接机和临时住宿,到8月下旬,我们将给他们带来信息丰富的入学Orientation。
二、中秋和国庆联欢晚会:
这是我们CSSA最传统、最值得期待的活动,有了来自前任同学的经验,我们希望能够取得比去年更大的成功!
三、篮球比赛:
我们准备能把篮球比赛办成一个锦杯赛,并且能作为我们CSSA的一个传统活动来办。希望同学们能在学习之余到球场上来挥洒汗水,激扬青春。
四、中国传统棋牌比赛。
这个活动将会是一个推广中国文化的活动,围棋、象棋、中国扑克……,都将在国际舞台上展现非凡的风采!
如果资金和时间允许,我们还会尝试举办:
五、乒乓球比赛:
乒乓球是我们值得骄傲的国球,我们会尝试举行UAlbany的乒乓球比赛,欢迎各位同学到时一试身手!
我们今年内还会建立完善的CSSA网站,把现有的Yahoo
Group的功能最大化,希望能给大家带来更多的方便。以上活动的列表,还有待完善,请大家把自己喜欢的活动告诉我们,把对我们组织的期望告诉我们,我们会尽量满足大家的要求的!
去年刚刚来到美国这个陌生的国度,我首先感受到的,是中国学生互相帮助的温暖;现在我融入了CSSA这个温馨的集体里面,我时时刻刻提醒自己,作为执委会成员所肩负的为中国学生、学者服务的义务。能给为这个集体贡献出自己一点微薄的力量,是我的光荣,是我的义务,也是我给大家的一个承诺。我恳请大家为我的工作提出意见,监督我的工作,你们的满意是我工作的动力!
