Racquetball is a fast paced sport that consists of 2-4 players per game. The players use a racquetball racquet to strike a hollow rubber ball (used for handball also) in an indoor or outdoor court. Games can be 1-on-1(singles), 2-on-1 for the entire game("cut-throat"), 2-on-1(every player for themselves), 2-on-2(doubles), 3-on-1(every player for themselves). Game lengths can be anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour (sometimes longer) depending on the players' skills and how they match up.
It is an excellent Aerobic/Anaerobic/Interval workout. The average number of calories burned during racquetball play ranges from 640/hour to 822/hour. Racquetball works nearly every muscle group, including sustained, repetitive use of large muscles that increase calorie burn and reduce fat percentage.
If a student is unsure/not comfortable about rules, the Commissioner will try to come to a game and explain hands-on; or you can use
Wikipedia for reference. The Commissioner will try to be present for everyone's first games to take pictures/explain rules.
