Digitization in the New Economy: Limitations Assessing Labor Market Information

In using statistical information we need to be aware of the limitations inherent in the data collection process. This talk will examine occupational and employment labor market data as technological change impacts the job skills necessary for those occupations. A specific example will be developed using the pre-press occupation in the printing and publishing industry. The limitations revealed will be examined in a general light to establish when analysts might wish to be cautious about using existing data to track changes in the "New Economy."
