Survey Research: A Growing Field
Survey research is expanding its reach into many new fields. Part of this is due to the automation of survey tools so that people get the impression that it is fairly easy to do surveys. There are several myths about surveys that should be dispelled and the author will review them. Web interviewing is now becoming very attractive, but also has its pitfalls. However, it is a good way in which to reach a college-educated population. One recent study in which NORC is involved is the study of the Florida ballots. Though this is not a survey, per se, it makes use of many of the same tools.
