about us

The Asian American Alliance (AAA) was founded at University at Albany in 1992 for the betterment of Asian American students. It is a social/cultural/political organization that serves as a coordinator for five Asian organizations on campus:
the Albany State Indian Alliance (ASIA),
the Chinese Student Association (CSA),
the Japanese Student Association (JSA),
the Korean Student Association (KSA), and
Liga Filipina (LIGA).

Our primary purpose is to educate Asian Americans to empower themselves to take action and achieve. AAA started with two events: Asian Occasion (AO), a culture and fashion show in the fall semester, and the Asian Pacific Awareness Conference (APAC), which is held in the spring semester. Today, we have grown so that we hold various workshops and recreational events in addition to our two main ones throughout the academic year that further help inform Asian Americans.

AAA's mission is also to encourage Asian unity and to allow Asian Americans to further their own interests. We have never lost sight of educating Asian Americans to be proud of their heritage while acquiring indispensable skills to succeed in America. One goal that we have been working hard to achieve is to unite the International Students with Asian Americans.

We are not Asian exclusive. We welcome everyone to our meetings, as well as all of our events and workshops!

past events

AAA's agenda has grown from its original two events--Asian Occasion (AO), a culture and fashion show in the fall semester, and the Asian Pacific Awareness Conference (APAC), which is held in the spring semester--to include various workshops and recreational events.

Our previous event lineup includes:

Asian Pacific Awareness Conference (APAC)

Learn about and discuss various topics and issues regarding the Asian/Pacific Islander communities in America and around the world.

Asian Occasion (AO)

Some clips from previous years:

Asian Exchange

Our annual auction where you can bid on a selection of UAlbany's finest ladies and gentlemen; profits go to charity.

Annual Barbeque

Typically held at Six Mile Park. Come out and meet the Asian community. There's people to do, food to meet, and fun things to eat! (Is that right?)

AOC Banquet

Dress your best for this grand banquet with the rest of the Asian American Alliance.
