Lawson Honored with National Cooperative Leadership Award
The National School Development Council has bestowed one of its two annual National Cooperative Leadership Awards upon School of Social Welfare Professor Hal A. Lawson. The award recognizes an outstanding national leader, with demonstrated success in improving school leadership preparation and practice, facilitating collaboration with educational partners, and investing in research frameworks that benefit educational practice. Professor Lawson was honored at the Capital School Development Association’s annual award dinner on April 16, 2013.
Lawson works with school-family-community university partnerships in the United States as well as in other nations. This work encompasses school reform and systems reform in child welfare, and it involves interdisciplinary collaboration, action science, and action learning. He is also a professor in the Department of Educational Administration and Policy in the School of Education.
