The "UAlbany Goes Green" environmental initiative is launched. Campus-wide efforts are engaging the community in energy conservation, recycling, beautification and other steps to sustain a healthy environment.
Alumni achievers share their stories and help kick off the "Reaching Higher, Achieving More" campaign that celebrates the successful career paths of UAlbany graduates.

The second annual Reading Project is launched with the distribution of 2,500 copies of Elizabeth Kolbert's Field Notes from a Catastrophe: Man, Nature, and Climate Change (2006).

The Center for Autism and Related Disabilities, the only one of its kind in New York State, unveils its new facility, which is better equipped to serve families with autism spectrum disorders.
Former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Joycelyn Elders, as keynote speaker for the 24th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Luncheon, urges students to help overcome racial and economic disparities in America's healthcare system.
UAlbany students raise $25,000 for the newest Capital District Habitat for Humanity home, with hundreds of students aiding the construction.

New signage, increased street lighting and added police patrols are announced as part of "Operation Safe Corridor," designed to increase student safety on off-campus pedestrian pathways.

The University unveils a $4 million plan for transforming its "Entry Plaza," the main campus gateway for visitors and the UAlbany community.
The University and State Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno announce a $13.2 million biotechnology expansion on the East Campus.
May 2007
International SEMATECH, the global consortium of leading nanoelectronics manufacturers, announces it will locate its headquarters at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering, ranked this year as the No. 1 college in the world for nanotechnology and microtechnology by Small Times magazine.
The University celebrates the signature architecture of its main campus, designed by renowned modernist architect Edward Durell Stone. The Getty Foundation awards UAlbany $180,000 to develop a plan to preserve the architecture.
Established with the goal of strengthening campus efforts to protect members of the campus community from sexual assault, the University's Sexual Assault Task Force releases its final report and recommendations, which include establishing a Sexual Assault Resource Center.
Men's lacrosse records UAlbany's first-ever NCAA Division I tournament victory in a year that saw eight America East conference championships and five teams in NCAA tournaments - UAlbany athletics' most celebrated season since moving to the Division I level in 1999.
June 2007
The Task Force on Undergraduate Writing Instruction issues a report calling for ambitious reforms in writing instruction to help UAlbany students develop as writers and thinkers.
