Major Highlights
With eight America East Conference championships and five teams in NCAA tournament appearances, the 2006-07 season was UAlbany athletics' most celebrated since the University moved to the NCAA Division I level in 1999.
Men's lacrosse, which was ranked second nationally for six consecutive weeks, became the first UAlbany team to record an NCAA Division I tournament victory. Softball became the first women's team to achieve that milestone, recording a pair of NCAA tournament wins in reaching the regional final.
Men's basketball made its second straight trip to the NCAA tournament, and drew a school-record home attendance of more than 3,100 fans per game.
Baseball made its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance, while volleyball earned an NCAA tournament berth for the second time in three years.
UAlbany hosted NCAA Division I tournament contests for the first time: the first and second rounds in volleyball, and the opening round in men's lacrosse.
Awards and Recognition
Stephen Hall, two-time Academic All-American in men's soccer, was awarded an NCAA postgraduate scholarship.
For the second straight year, Marc Pelozzi, in the javelin, and Joe Greene, in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles, earned All-America status in NCAA Division I outdoor track & field.
Jamar Wilson of men's basketball and Colin Disch of football were named All-Americans, Wilson on the Associated Press team, Disch by the American Football Coaches Association.
UAlbany boasted 53 All-America East conference selections.
The Great Danes had 46 athletes named to America East's All-Academic Team.
Five student-athletes received State University of New York Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Awards.
