Women’s Basketball Has Banner Season
UAlbany women won the league’s regular season title for the first time in program history and claimed back-to-back tournament titles. The Great Danes made their second-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, nearly upsetting North Carolina in the first round.

UAlbany men clinched an NCAA Tournament berth after becoming the lowest seed (4) to win the America East Championship. UAlbany gave Duke University a run in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on national television (CBS).
Lyle Thompson Named a Finalist for the Tewaaraton Award
Men’s lacrosse attackman Lyle Thompson was named a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award, given annually to the top male and female college lacrosse players in the U.S. In addition, Lyle, Miles, and Ty Thompson all earned United States Inside Lacrosse Association Division I All-America honors.
UAlbany Breaks Ground on New Track and Field Facility
On the ever-improving campus of the University at Albany Wednesday, the Great Danes officially broke ground on a brand new track and field venue that will allow the UAlbany Track and Field teams to host meets in the 2014 season.
UAlbany Track and Field Programs Sweep the Men’s and Women’s Indoor and Outdoor America East Championships
The UAlbany men and women earned a fifth consecutive sweep of the America East Outdoor Track and Field Championships Sunday afternoon at the East Gym Track Complex at Binghamton University. It was also the fifth consecutive championship for the Great Dane women, while the men stretch their record title streak to nine straight years.
Linebacker Jon Morgan, Running Back Drew Smith Sign NFL Free Agent Contracts
Shortly after the conclusion of the 2013 NFL Draft Saturday night, University at Albany football players Jon Morgan and Drew Smith signed free agent contracts with the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills, respectively.
