Are we ready to celebrate? The 5 th Annual Women's Studies Student Conference will mark the 35th anniversary of Women's Studies at UAlbany by reflecting on our history while also envisioning future pathways for feminism and other social justice movements. We invite scholarly and creative submissions from graduate and undergraduate students (not limited to UAlbany), as well as community workers. We also invite submissions from all disciplines. Topics may vary but should utilize a historical lens (addressing the above questions) and examine intersections of race, class, gender, and sexuality. Contemporary issues – such as war and militarization, sexual violence, globalization, immigration, same-sex marriage, and the environment – may also be addressed, but historical explorations must be incorporated. Please send 200-word abstracts describing your project to wstudent@albany.edu by October 27, 2006. An opening reception and performance will take place Thursday, November 30, 4:30-7:30 pm in the University Art Museum. Presentations of students' work will take place on Friday, December 1, 2006 in the Standish Room, 3rd floor of the Science Library. Both locations are on the uptown campus of the University at Albany. | Print Flyer |
