Adapting Short Stories for Film Workshop
Offered by
Writer-in-Residence WILLIAM PATRICK

New York State Writers Institute Writer-in-Residence William Patrick will conduct a workshop on Adapting Short Stories for Film during the Fall 1999 semester. The emphasis for most of the new writing will be on screenwriting, but attention will be paid in each class to the differences between writing in the two different genres.

The Adapting Short Stories for Film Workshop is scheduled for seven Thursday nights (October 7, 14, 28, November 4, 11, December 2, 9) with one Wednesday night (October 20) from 6 to 9 p.m. In addition, videos of films that were adapted from short stories will be screened on four Monday nights (October 18, November 8, 15, 29) starting at 7 p.m. The class and the video screenings will take place on the University at Albanys uptown campus. The workshop is offered free of charge for non-credit, and will be limited to twelve writers. To be considered, submit manuscripts to the Writers Institute according to the guidelines listed below.
