Congratulations to two past Institute guests who won 2013 Pulitzer Prizes
Sharon Olds, who served as New York State Poet from 1998 to 2000, was awarded the 2013 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry for her volume “Stag’s Leap.” The Pulitzer committee described the collection as “a book of unflinching poems on the author’s divorce that examine love, sorrow and the limits of self-knowledge.” Click here for a video of excerpts from Sharon Olds’s visit to the Writers Institute in 2004. Adam Johnson, who appeared at the Writers Institute on February 14, 2012, has received the Pulitzer Prize in Fiction for his novel, The Orphan Master’s Son,” which the Pulitzer committee described as “an exquisitely crafted novel that carries the reader on an adventuresome journey into the depths of totalitarian North Korea and into the most intimate spaces of the human heart.” Click here for a video excerpt from an interview with Johnson during his recent visit to the Institute.
