The Department of Women's Studies is pleased to present the Harriet Tubman: A Legacy of Resistancesymposium, which will be held to honor the 100th anniversary of the passing of this legendary figure in Women's History, Black History, and American History. The official anniversary will take place on March 10, 2013.
To mark this milestone event, scheduled to launch on Friday, March 8, 2013 – which coincides with International Women's Day during Women's History Month – the symposium will feature notable scholars, artists, and activists who will assemble and discuss the important legacy that Harriet Tubman has left behind for those of us who value freedom and resistance to all forms of social injustice.
