Women's Studies Annual Graduate Student Conference

Every fall semester, graduate students organize an annual Women's Studies Student Conference - often through the Feminist Theory graduate seminar or occasionally through another course. What began in Fall 2002 as a class conference, in which students presented their seminar papers in a public format, has grown into open calls for participation from both graduate and undergraduate students in different departments, colleges, and universities. The annual conference in the past has featured both local and statewide students, including international students from Canada and Australia.

Each year, the conference features different and timely themes, such as one focusing on Hurricane Katrina the year of the disaster and the 2006 conference celebrating the department's 35th anniversary by highlighting in its title, "Looking Back, Moving Forward."

Students who wish to learn more about the event and who would like to submit projects and ideas can contact conference organizers at the following e-mail address: wstudent@albany.edu.

Please visit the conference website: www.albany.edu/wstudent_conference. (The program for the 2011 conference will be available at a later date.)
