What can you do with a degree in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies?
There are many things that you can do with a WSS degree. You can do something directly related to women's studies or women's issues: teachers or professors, writers or journalists, activists working for non-profit organizations that advocate for women's rights, or social workers helping those in need. You can also make a difference with your knowledge and critical thinking in any fields that may not seemingly relate to women's studies. One of my students got a job in Amazon.com and she was looking forward to influencing the company with her feminism. (Yes, we can all ask whether it is coopting to the corporation, or how much she could influence as a new employee, which are great questions that we and she should ask.) However, the point is how you live your "feminist life" (Berger and Radeloff 2014), which includes self-reflection, checking our privilege, and sharing and taking constructive criticism for social change.
