The National Agency for the Promotion of Research, Technological Development, and Innovation in Argentina, through its Scientific and Technological Research Fund, has awarded funding to the project “Cultural Production, Affect and Prefigurative Politics of the Movement for Abortion Rights in Latin America’s Southern Cone.” This project will be directed by Dr. Nayla Luz Vacarezza, who was a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at UAlbany during 2021.

For the next two years, she will be working with Dr. Barbara Sutton (University at Albany), Dr. Lieta Vivaldi (Universidad de Chile), Dr. Lucía Berro Pizzarossa (Georgetown University), and Dr. Julia Burton (Universidad Nacional del Comahue) to systematically analyze the cultural strategies and actions of the abortion rights movement in Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay. This project will expand upon the longstanding academic dialogue and collaboration between Professor Sutton and Dr. Vacarezza.
