Yolanda Best is majoring in Psychology with a minor in Education. She is currently a senior at the University at Albany, graduating in May 2010. Her future plan is to pursue a career in nursing. She also plans to receive another Bachelor degree in science and a Masters in science. She would like to accomplish this all in the next five years of her life. This was her first class taken with the Women’s Studies department and she enjoyed it immensely. She has never edited a journal before and accepted the challenge with an open mind.
Elizabeth Coppernoll is currently a junior at the University at Albany, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Public Health. She plans to finish her undergraduate course work in the spring of 2011, where she will continue on to graduate school to further pursue her studies.
Carmina Escobar-Deleon is currently a junior at the University at Albany. Her major is Sociology and minor is Business. She plans to graduate in August of 2010. She intends to continue with a Masters degree in Sociology and someday work for a corporation, which will allow her to apply her skills in Sociology. Being a part of the transcending silence... editorial board has been interesting and useful in many ways.
Ryan Espeut is a senior at the University at Albany. She is an English major and a Psychology minor planning to graduate in Spring 2010. She will be interning for a tutoring program during the Spring 2010 semester that offers extra help to students having trouble in English related topics and young children with less than ideal situations to return home to after school hours. She plans to attend graduate school next fall to earn a Masters degree in secondary education with a concentration in English.
Samantha Huertas is an undergraduate student at the University at Albany, majoring in English and minoring in Spanish. As a student and as an individual, she is interested in exploring and understanding the many cultures that are a part of our world, which is simultaneously becoming more entertwined and more seperated. After her undergraduate work, she has plans to attend graduate school for Education and hopefully dedicate some time to teaching in inner city schools. Travel and international living are large parts of who she is, contribute to her drive to perceive, experience, and take an active part in the world around her.
Kourtney Lavin is currently a senior at the University at Albany and graduating in December 2009. She is a Sociology major with a double minor in both Women's Studies and Africana Studies. After graduating she plans on attending law school to continue her studies. Working on this journal has provided her with the opportunity to edit a memorable collection of provocative work.
Anna Lempereur is a senior at the University at Albany and will be graduating in December 2009. She is studying journalism with a concentration of digital and visual media and a minor in art. She produced a show for Albany Student Television about fashion and style, which she is passionate about along with photography. Anna is planning to go to graduate school to continue her studies in journalism.
Yurie Nozu is a senior at the University at Albany. Her major is Linguistics and her minor is Education. She is expected to graduate in December 2009 and is planning to go to graduate school to study TESOL. She would like to pursue a career as an English teacher.
Chelsea Piazza is a senior at the University at Albany. She is a Fine Arts Major and a Art History Minor with plans to Graduate in Spring 2010. She enjoys painting, reading, and decorating. Chelsea is a certified Interior Decorator and hopes to pursue a career as an artist and curator
Chelsea Bianca Rillo is graduating this semester in UAlbany with a double major in Urban Planning and Geography. After her pending deployment next year, She is going to pursue a Masters in Regional Planning with a concentration in Transportation Management and Geographic Information System. She plans on working with the US AF as an active duty commissioned officer.
Erica Torres is a senior at the Univeristy at Albany, she is a Woman's Studies major and a Sociology minor. After graduating in May 2010, she hopes to continue her education and go on to law school to pursue a career as a lawyer for domestic violence and child abuse victims.
Maureen Whitcomb is currently a junior at the University at Albany majoring in Women’s Studies with a minor in Sociology. She plans to graduate in December 2010 and then apply for the graduate program in Social Welfare at the University at Albany with the hopes of working with prison families or victims of domestic violence. She is a part of Presidential Honor Society, University Dance Council, the Women’s Studies Teaching Collective, University Chorale, and is President of VOX: Voices for Planned Parenthood.
