April 13, 2011 Community Event

Spring Health Fair

The Women’s Health Project celebrated the end of winter with a Spring Health Fair, including entertainment and demonstrations designed to make the event both engaging and educational. The free event took place on Wednesday, April 13 in the community room at Bliss Towers in Hudson, New York.

Entertainment was provided by Kuumba Dance and Drum Students from Operation Unite Education and Cultural Arts Center. Karen Mort of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia County provided a cooking demonstration. Elena Mosley of Operation Unite led a demonstration of Latin Dance Health Movement.

A health resource fair allowed participants to learn more about local organizations that provide health care services, to sign up for services, and to receive free immunizations, as well as taxi vouchers for rides to and from women’s health services within Hudson.  Organizations participating in the health resource fair included the AIDS Council of Northeastern New York, Columbia County Community Healthcare Consortium, Columbia County Department of Health, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia County, Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties, Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood, and the Women’s Health Project Taxi Voucher Program.
