Brief Bio: Amanda Giracca earned her MFA in nonfiction writing from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013. Her work has been published in Orion Magazine, Virginia Quarterly Review, Aeon Magazine, Fourth Genre, Terrain, and Flyway, among others. Her work has been selected as "notable" in Best American Essays (2015 and 2016) and in Best American Sports Writing (2016), and she has served as an editor for Vela Magazine, a nonprofit and publication whose mission is to close the byline gender gap in nonfiction publishing. She is the founder of the WCI Writing Contest and Celebration. She also participates in the Peer Mentor Program and teaches science-themed LLC sections of WCI.
