A gathering in Washington of alumni in government, and a helping hand right here at home....

President Hitchcock, right, met with Albany alumni in a March 26 event at the Longworth House Office Building in Washington D.C. Among the 85 on hand at the "University at Albany Alumni in Government" reception were, in photo, left to right, Patty Salkin '85, president of the Alumni Association; John Malitzis '89, D.C. chapter leader, Addie Jenne, a current University sophomore now interning in Vice President Al Gore's office, Roger Rapp '68, director of field operations for the National Cemetery Systems in the Department of Veterans Affairs; Gil Klinger '81, Undersecretary of Defense in the U.S. Department of Defense, and Linda Wilbur '73,director of policy and budget staff for the Environmental Protection Agency.


Kay Hotaling, �67 B.S. �70 M.S., and Frank Sarratori �87 join with other Albany alumni among the 50 that attended the Party for a Plate fundraiser at Siena College on March 11. It raised more than $7,500 for the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. Organized by the alumni associations of the ten Capital Region colleges and universities, the event consisted of food sampling from 20 area restaurants and bakeries, as well as dancing and raffles. The organizing committee included included University alumnae Kris Moran, �92 and Christine Sarratori �88.


After a welcome from Alumni Association Executive Director Margaret Aldrich and introductions from the President at the D.C. event, Thomas A. Constantine, MA �71, administrator of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration since 1994, offered the "alumni remarks." Superintendent of the New York State Police from 1986 until his federal appointment, Constantine was named New York�s Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in 1994.
