CHSR areas of inquiry cover a wide range of topics including education and training, family support, health care and nutrition, intimate partner violence, and youth development and juvenile justice. Characteristic of all these studies is CHSR’s focus on rigorous methods, strong stakeholder involvement, and the dissemination of timely, accurate and non-partisan information to guide best practices in service delivery.

Center for Public Health Continuing Education

Here at the (CPHCE) we strive to be one of the primary sources of continuing education for the public health workforce. Many of our training opportunities are available free via distance learning. Check out the on-demand webcasts from Public Health Live, the certificate program at Public Health Nurse Ready, the online courses at the Empire State Public Health Training Center, and the Northeast Public Health Leadership Institute as well as our many other programs.

Center on English, Learning, and Achievement (CELA)

The Center on English Learning & Achievement (CELA) specializes in research, development, and services to improve literacy teaching and learning across the grades and subjects. Two major projects, the Partnership for Literacy and the National Study of Writing Instruction.

Child Research and Study Center (CRSC)

(1) to conduct research in the study of normal and abnormal development, especially as related to school learning; (2) to provide training and field experience in research for graduate and undergraduate students in the School of Education and the University at large; (3) to provide professional development and consultation services to local, state, and national educational agencies and personnel to facilitate improved instruction and improved student learning, especially in the acquisition of literacy and related skills and (4) to provide diagnostic assessment and consultation services on behalf of learners encountering difficulty in literacy acquisition and development, in support of student training and research.

Professional Development Program

The Professional Development Program contributes state-of-the art capacities in education, training, research and evaluation, e-learning, video production, and public education campaigns. PDP offers a comprehensive package of services to improve individual and organizational performance, from initial consultation through all phases of needs assessment, organizational analysis, and program development to full implementation and management. Combined with its highly regarded content expertise in public policy and administration, social welfare, human services, computer systems, and instructional technologies.

Program for Research on Private Higher Education (PROPHE)

PROPHE is a global network dedicated to building knowledge about one of the most striking tendencies in higher education around the world--the development of large and often vibrant private sectors. PROPHE's knowledge mission focuses on discovery, analysis, and dissemination, as well as creation of an international base of researchers. PROPHE neither represents nor promotes private higher education. The core activity is scholarship, which, in turn, aims to inform public discussion and policymaking.

Regional Adult Education Network

The primary mission is to improve educational outcomes for adult students by providing professional development courses for teachers working with adult learners. Training and Technical Assistance is designed to increase opportunities for adults to enter, retain and improve employment, enter post-secondary colleges and universities, career and technical schools and improve literacy levels for families in New York State. Courses, training and workshops are developed using scientific and evidence based research that supports professionals in working with specific learners.

Science & Technology Entry Program (STEP)
