Child & Family Experiences Project

The main focus of our research is to examine the effects of family violence (e.g. childhood maltreatment, marital conflict, harsh parenting) and community violence (e.g. school, neighborhood) on long term adjustment.

Child Clinical & Developmental Lab

The CCD Lab is devoted to the study of two areas of interest: a) developmental psychopathology and b) pediatric psychology. Research studies conducted at the CCD Lab have examined the development of problem behaviors in a variety of child populations, ranging from preschoolers in a Head Start program to children with chronic medical conditions.

Child Research and Study Center (CRSC)

(1) to conduct research in the study of normal and abnormal development, especially as related to school learning; (2) to provide training and field experience in research for graduate and undergraduate students in the School of Education and the University at large; (3) to provide professional development and consultation services to local, state, and national educational agencies and personnel to facilitate improved instruction and improved student learning, especially in the acquisition of literacy and related skills and (4) to provide diagnostic assessment and consultation services on behalf of learners encountering difficulty in literacy acquisition and development, in support of student training and research.

Evaluation Consortium

The Evaluation Consortium has developed a reputation at the local, state, and national levels for providing both high quality evaluation services as well as being actively engaged in the dissemination of evaluation research. Types of evaluations conducted by the Consortium include technology curriculum and instruction, professional development that supports reform in K-12 settings, and cross-site evaluation of innovative educational practices at the state level, and evaluation of cutting edge federal programs.

National Child Welfare Workforce Institute

A National Workforce Institute is proposed which will foster a national learning community to build distributed, adaptive, and inclusive child welfare leadership to implement sustainable systems change, institutionalize effective workforce practices, and improve outcomes for children and families.

Social Work Education Consortium

The Social Work Education Consortium was established in 2000 as a formal partnership between the Office of Children and Family Services, Bureau of Training, the New York State Dean’s Association, the social work education community and local social services designed to impact the child welfare workforce. Sixteen graduate and 28 undergraduate social work programs participate in the Consortium, along with 57 county social service districts and NYC’s Administration for Children’s Services.
