Peter and Marjorie Benedict Endowment
Established by Marjorie Benedict ‘74, this fund provides monies to purchase books for the University Library collections to support the programs that are within French studies.

Patricia Stocking Brown Fund for Feminist Social Justice Research in University Libraries
This fund, established by Professor Stephen C. Brown and other donors, provide for the acquisition and use of materials to enhance the University Library’s Special Collections and Archives related to feminist social justice.

Dorothy Christiansen Enrichment Fund
This fund was established to serve as a permanent tribute to Dorothy E. Christiansen, head of the M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives, and was established in honor of her retirement from the University Libraries on November 16, 2001. This account provides general support for the enhancement of the collections and services of the M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives.

Mary Elizabeth Cobb Endowment
Established through a bequest by Miriam Snow Mathes ’26, this fund has supported/supports the renovation and refurbishment of the Cobb Room and its equipment.

Dean and Director’s New Initiatives Fund for Albany’s University Libraries
Established through the generosity of past Library Dean and Director Meredith Butler, this fund was established to allow the Dean and Director of University Libraries to make strategic investments in new initiatives to advance the collections and services of the University Libraries. Funds may be used for, but are not limited to, new programmatic initiatives, acquisition of materials, technological advances, and/or capital improvements.

Greatest Generation Fund for the University Libraries

Spearheaded by members of the Class of 1948, on the occasion of their 55th reunion in 2003, this fund was established to memorialize classmates and alumni who exemplified the best of "the greatest generation." The purpose of this fund is to provide monies to purchase books and materials (both paper and electronic publications) in order to enhance and preserve the University Libraries' collections in arts and sciences.

M.E. Grenander Special Collections & Archives
To honor Professor Grenander's outstanding service to and support of the University at Albany, the Department of Special Collections and Archives in the University Libraries was dedicated as the M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives on September 27, 1996. Professor Grenander gave more than $1 million to the University at Albany, including a $250,000.00 endowment for the department and $500,000 to establish a professorship in memory of her husband, James Corbett, a professor of physics at the University at Albany, who died in 1994.

Dorothy G. Griffin Library Endowment
Established through the generosity of Dorothy G. Griffin ’34, this fund provides support for the purchase of equipment and furnishings for University Library facilities.

Louise DeAngelis Hall Library Endowment
Established through the generosity of Louise DeAngelis Hall ’42, the fund provides support for resources, programs and related educational expenses associated with library development.

Helen F. Rex Hart ’27 Library Fund
Established through a bequest by the Estate of Dorothy Rex West, sister of Helen F. Rex Hart, this fund provides support for the Libraries to purchase reference books in the field of History.

Harry and Louise Clement Hastings Fund
Established by Alice Hastings Murphy, Director Emeritus of the University Libraries, in memory of her parents. This fund provides support for the purchase of literary materials and for the preservation of all library materials.

Endowed Fund for the Preservation of the Hawley Building Windows and Murals
Established through a joint fund raising effort of the Friends of the Libraries and the University Libraries, the purpose of this fund is to provide for the on-going repair, maintenance and preservation of the stained glass windows and canvas murals in the Hawley Building.

History of American Science & Technology Endowment
Established by Professor Kendall A. Birr, this fund provides for the purchase of books dealing with the history and sociology of American science and technology. This includes natural sciences as developed in the United States, and technology in a broader spectrum.

Honoring Our Professors Endowed Fund for University Libraries
This fund provides support for the University Libraries to enhance their collection of materials related to the arts and sciences. Funds may be used to obtain books and materials, both paper and electronic publications, in arts and sciences collections as well as to preserve these collections. Other contributors to this fund may honor favorite professors through a recognition leadership gift to this fund. This fund has been established through the generosity of Matthew ’57, ’61 and Sandra, MLS ’71 Ostoyich.

Esther A. Jansen'26 Endowment for University Libraries
Established through the generosity of the Estate of Ester A. Jansen ’26, this fund provides general support for the University Libraries at the University at Albany.

Nora Jason Fund for Information Studies

Established through the Estate of Nora Jason ’66, this fund supports the School of Information & Library Science.

Frida Lundell Lewis Library Endowment
Established through a bequest by the Estate of Frida Lundell Lewis ‘34, the purpose of this endowment is to provide general support for the enhancement of collections and services of the University Libraries.

Lucius N. Littauer Judaica Periodical Fund
This fund was established through the generosity of The Lucius N. Littauer Foundation to provide funds for the Libraries to purchase Judaica and Hebraica journals and periodicals.

Gregory Maguire ’76 Endowment
Established by Gregory Maguire ’76, this fund provides support for the Gregory Maguire Archives at the University at Albany’s M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives. This support includes organizing, housing, preserving, publicizing and digitizing materials in this collection. Funds may also be used by University Libraries to support programming related to the Gregory Maguire Papers and other literary and historical collections.

The George E. Martin Fund

Established by Dr. George E. Martin, Class of 1954, Professor Emeritus (Mathematics), this fund is to support the University Libraries, in particular the research support offered by the Interlibrary Loan Department.

Miriam Snow Mathes Endowment Fund
Established through the generosity of Miriam Snow Mathes’26, this fund provides support for the Historical Children’s Literature Collection in the University Libraries.

University Libraries Fund for Materials in Economics
Established through the generosity of Jeremy Schrauf MA ’75, this fund is used by the Libraries to enhance their collection of materials related to the research and study of Economics. The purchase of such materials and of important print and electronic media is vital to serve the needs of students and researchers.  Funds may be used to purchase, but are not limited to, items such as network licenses to access economic databases that can be used for specific research projects, computer software necessary for accessing research materials and
books and working papers in the field of Economics.

University Libraries Fund for Materials in Education
This fund is being established to provide materials and enhance collections for those who are in the field of Education, to purchase new and emerging pedagogy and technology materials to be used by students, researchers and educators.

University Libraries Fund for Materials in Fine Arts and Performing Arts
This fund allows the University Libraries to enhance their collection of materials related to the fine and performing arts. The purchase of such materials and of important print and electronic media is vital to serve the needs of students and researchers. Funds may be used to obtain digital resources that support instruction, purchase materials in new formats or replace/migrate materials from one media format to another, purchase annual site license agreements for subscriptions to on-line indices/abstracts of current journal articles in the fine and performing arts, and to purchase new equipment or replace older media hardware.

University Libraries Fund for the Preservation Laboratory

Established through the generosity of past Library dean and director Meredith Butler, this fund provides support for the University Libraries Preservation Laboratory to be used at the discretion of the Head of the Preservation Laboratory for purposes such as student assistance, internships, supplies, equipment or financial support for preservation education and training.

University Libraries Endowed Fund for Materials in the Humanities
To allow the Libraries to strengthen and maintain existing humanities collections, as well as provide for new collections to support the humanities, this endowed fund has been established in support of these initiatives.

University Libraries Endowment for Enriching Programs in Science and Technology
Established with leadership gifts by Dr. Roy ’56, ’58 and Shirley Stevens, Dr. Charles ’73 and Rene ’75 Gibbs, and Mrs. Edith Quake ’63, this endowment will provide funds to the University Libraries to strengthen and maintain existing science and technology collections (paper and non-paper) as well as provide for the new science and technology collections, in a variety of formats, that the future will mandate.
