MEETING OPENED 2:30 PM.
I. Grade Appeal Policy
The discussion continued for the proper procedure for a grade change. The two options discussed were whether to give the Dean of Undergraduate study the responsibility to write off on the CAAS decision or to have the Dean make the final decision on the grade change after being advised by the CAAS.
The actual policy which would be inserted into the undergraduate and graduate bulletin was then reviewed by the council. The council decided on certain changes which would make this policy clear in its words yet not too specific in its process. Grade appeal policies from a variety of colleges and universities were reviewed to bring out the best of all into our bulletin. More changes to the grade change policy would be discussed next week.
Due to the grade ambiguity in legislation on academic grievances in the bulletin,
Bob has volunteered to pull out the actual legislation on this policy and present
it to the UAC next week.
II. Mathematics sequence change proposal
Proposal showed changes in the degree program requirements in the Mathematics
department. This proposal was voted on and approved by the UAC.
III. Future Committee Meetings
Next meeting is scheduled for October 11th, 2002 at 2:30 pm. in the conference room
