About This GuideThe
New York State Education Department Career
Plan How-To Guide is intended to serve as a resource for
administrators, counselors, and teachers as they begin the process of
designing and implementing a comprehensive K-Adult career planning
system for all learners.
The information contained in the Guide is based on the
recommended K-Adult career plan documents and implementation process
resulting from the Pilot phase of the New York State Education
Department Career Plan Initiative.
Organized by education levels, the Guide is designed to facilitate a continuum of career development and planning opportunities for all State learners throughout their K-Adult education experiences. The Guide also serves as the foundation for the turn-key training activities resulting from the training phase of the Career Plan Initiative.AcknowledgementsThe Career Plan “How-To” Guide represents the collective thinking of a partnership consisting of representatives from the New York State Department of Education and Department of Labor; school based personnel from the kindergarten through the adult levels; the Career Options Institute; the Two Year College Development Center and The Westchester Institute for Human Services Research, Inc.
