Auditions

Auditions for Almost, Maine and A Doll's House are scheduled for September 5th and 6th in the Studio Theatre from 6:30-10pm.

Callbacks for Almost, Maine are scheduled for September 7th in the Arena Theatre from 6:30-10pm.

Callbacks for A Doll's House are scheduled for September 7th in the Studio Theatre from 6:30-10pm.

Please Sign up for an audition slot on the Theatre Callboard. The Theatre Callboard is located on the 2nd floor of the Performing Arts Center. You will also find casting information for the fall productions.

Actors are encouraged to prepare two contrasting one-minute monologues:
A contemporary comedic monologue
A classic dramatic monologue

Monologues are available on the Callboard if needed.

Auditions for Hair are scheduled for November 27th & 28th in the Main Theatre from 6-10pm.
Callbacks will be on November 29 in the Main Theatre from 5-10pm.

Actors are asked to prepare a song from the show. Sheet music will be available on the Callboard starting November 1st. Please DO NOT take EVENING CLASSES if you wish to be considered for Hair .

Casting Policy
As of January/2006

The University at Albany Theatre Program:

• Has pledged itself to the goal of achieving cultural diversity in its casting
• Encourages all University at Albany students to audition for and participate in its productions
• Strives to provide educational opportunities for the growth, development, and training of students and casts its productions in part to fulfill this goal.
• Encourages its faculty and staff to employ the freedom implicit in educational theatre to make bold and experimental artistic choices in the conception, casting, and design of their work
• Recognizes the director as the person responsible for making casting decisions for each production and encourages integration between the production process and coursework
• Promotes the ideal that earning and retaining a role is a privilege, not a right
• Relies on the good faith and common sense of its faculty, staff, and students to interpret these policies in the proper spirit
