Teach Online - Online Course Development

Interested in developing a fully online course at UAlbany? Whether you're new to online teaching or experienced, we offer different pathways to help you create your online courses.

Online Course Development cohort (OCD)

If you are new to online teaching, then the OCD program is your pathway to offering an online course. Offered twice a year for a spring cohort and a summer cohort, OCD is delivered as blended learning format, and includes an individual consultation with an instructional designer. The program spans approximately 10 weeks. Enrollment in these cohorts is initiated by a call for participation sent to the academic departments by the Office of General Studies and Summer Sessions. Participants receive a stipend for developing fully online courses and meeting the terms of the signed contract.

Online Course Development Flex (OCD-Flex)

OCD-Flex provides a flexible pathway to online course development if you are not able to participation in an OCD cohort. After one initial on-campus half-day introductory workshop, OCD-Flex is a self-paced learning process with online resources and opportunities for individual consultation as needed. Instructors should attend the Teach Online workshop, no later than the beginning of the semester PRIOR to when the new online course will be offered.

Online Course "Refresh"

If you have already taught online before but are seeking support for continued development of your course, then this program is for you. Whether refreshing your course for Open SUNY+ or looking to incorporate a new vision for your online pedagogy, the program is designed for experienced online instructors to engage in advanced course design and development activities. If you are interested in participating, contact Caroline Manssino-Cohen.
