Arts and Culture

From the Performing Arts Center, to the Writers Institute and the Art Museum, UAlbany is home to a many arts and cultural events throughout the year. Students can also take courses in and theatre, where they can take part in productions or learn behind-the-scenes roles.

UAlbany's award-winning music department also offers ways for students to get involved, and undergraduates who major in music have the opportunity to take a variety of specialized programs in performance, composition, vocal performance, conducting, musicology and theory.

Off Campus

The Capital Region is home to several notable museums and art venues, including the Albany EGG, Albany Institute of History and Art, Capital Repertory Theatre, the New York State Museum, The Palace Theatre.

Students interested in seeing the latest film at the box office can journey to any number of surrounding theatres, from those showing first-run movies or screen classics at the newly refurbished Madison Theater, just a few minutes walk from the downtown campus.
