Call for Nominations

These honors recognize and reward Student Association recognized student organizations and their undergraduate student leaders who have made significant contributions to enhance the quality of life at the University at Albany. Recipients will have demonstrated a variety of accomplishments during the 2012-2013 academic year including extraordinary service, successful programming, educational endeavors and involvement within the University campus and Albany community.

AWARD DESCRIPTIONS

RECOGNIZED STUDENT ORGANIZATION CLUSTER AWARDS:

The Outstanding Service Group Award honors a Student Association recognized student organization that falls under the "Service Cluster" which has demonstrated outstanding commitment and community service to the University at Albany campus and surrounding area during the 2012-2013 academic year.

The Outstanding Cultural Group Award honors a Student Association recognized student organization that falls under the "Cultural Cluster" which has demonstrated outstanding commitment to raising cultural awareness through programming on the University at Albany campus during the 2012-2013 academic year.

The Outstanding Media & Entertainment Group Award honors a Student Association recognized student organization that falls under the "Media & Entertainment Cluster" which has demonstrated outstanding commitment to positively affecting the University at Albany community through various media outlets during the 2012-2013 academic year.

The Outstanding Athletics Group Award honors a Student Association recognized student organization that falls under the "Athletics Cluster" which has demonstrated outstanding commitment and achievement in their athletic activity of choice during the 2012-2013 academic year, while being accepting of Student Association's open membership policies.

The Outstanding Religious Group Award honors a Student Association recognized student organization that falls under the "Religious Cluster" which has demonstrated outstanding commitment to raising religious awareness - regardless of creed - through programming on the University at Albany campus during the 2012-2013 academic year.

The Outstanding Pre-Professional & Academic Group Award honors a Student Association recognized student organization that falls under the "Pre-Professional & Academic Cluster" which has demonstrated outstanding commitment to educating others - regardless of their pre-professional and/or academic field of choice - through programming on the University at Albany campus during the 2012-2013 academic year.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS:

The Most Devoted to On-Campus Community Award honors a Student Association recognized student organization that has had a very strong presence on the University at Albany campus during the 2012-2013 academic year and succeeds in carrying out the mission statement of their group. They work well with Student Association and the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership among other parties and are known to put on positive, creative and well-attended on-campus programming.

The Most Involved in Community At-Large Award honors a Student Association recognized student organization that has had a very strong presence in the Albany community at-large during the 2012-2013 academic year and succeeds in carrying out the mission statement of their group through community service and volunteer efforts. They work well with outside organizations and positively represent the University at Albany in the neighboring areas. Note: the recipient of this award does not have to be a Student Association recognized student organization that falls under the "Service Cluster."

PROGRAMMING AWARDS:

The Educational Program of the Year Award honors a specific, educational-based program hosted by a Student Association recognized student organization during the 2012-2013 academic year. This program was well thought out, executed properly and well-attended, and succeeded in educating others on a unique and interesting topic (perhaps through the use of guest speakers, workshops, round-table discussions, etc.).

The Charitable Program of the year (more than 250 in attendance) is presented to the University at Albany Student Association recognized group for executing a charitable based program that was properly and well thought out, executed properly and well attended with more than 250 participants and succeeded in raising money, awareness, donating time or commodities to a charitable cause during the 2013-2013 academic year.

The Charitable Program of the year (no more than 250 in attendance) is presented to the University at Albany Student Association recognized group for executing a charitable based program that was properly and well thought out, executed properly and well attended with up to 250 participants and succeeded in raising money, awareness, donating time or commodities to a charitable cause during the 2013-2013 academic year.

The Entertainment Program of the Year Award honors a specific, entertainment-based program hosted by a Student Association recognized student organization during the 2012-2013 academic year. This program was well thought out, executed properly and well-attended, and succeeded in entertaining those in attendance through any medium and/or form of expression (perhaps through the use of concerts, performances, workshops, shows, etc.).

The Cultural Awareness Program of the Year Award honors a specific, cultural awareness-based program hosted by a Student Association recognized student organization during the 2012-2013 academic year. This program was well thought out, executed properly and well-attended, and succeeded in educating others on a new and different culture in a unique and well-received manner (perhaps through the use of food, dance, music, recitations, performances, workshops, etc.).

The Innovative Program of the Year Award honors the most innovative program hosted by a Student Association recognized student organization during the 2012-2013 academic year. This program was something that the University at Albany had never seen before, but that was well thought out, executed properly and well-attended. This program, both creative and original, succeeded in achieving the unique goal it set out to accomplish.

The Professional Networking Program of the Year is presented to the University at Albany Student Association recognized group for executing a professional networking program that was well executed and attended. It provided students the opportunity to develop their professional skills at the University of Albany during the 2013-2013 academic year.

The Collaboration Initiative Award is presented to the University at Albany Student Association recognized group for successfully collaborating with 3 or more student groups to create a more cohesive family at the University at Albany during the 2013-2013 academic year.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS:

The Emerging Student Leader Award honors young, up-and-coming student leaders (typically of freshman and sophomore status) who have taken great initiative in becoming active members of their respective Student Association recognized student organizations.

The Graduating Student Leader Award honors graduating students who have taken leadership roles in their respective Student Association recognized student organizations and have devoted much time and energy into their organization with the desire to leave a lasting impact, so that emerging student leaders may follow in their footsteps in the years to come.

The Outstanding Student Group Leader Award honors one student who has excelled in their leadership position within a Student Association recognized student organization, drawing attention from Student Association officials and administrators and serving as a role model for those in leadership positions within other student organizations on campus.

The Outstanding Graduating Senator Award is presented to the graduating student senator who has excelled in their position in the Student Association Senate and has shown commitment and served as a role model for other senators throughout their time at the University at Albany

TOP TIER AWARDS:

The Community Partnership Award honors a Student Association recognized student organization partner that has assisted a student organization in accomplishing their mission statement. This community partner has made a visible impact on both the student organization and the University at Albany campus.

The Rookie of the Year Award honors one Student Association recognized student organization that was new and unfunded during the 2012-2013 academic year but has risen to the challenge and succeeded in organizing themselves as a reputable, new group on campus through positive programming and marketing. This is a group to keep an eye out for in the future!

The Student Group of the Year Award honors one Student Association recognized student organization that has gone above and beyond their requirements to maintain recognition during the 2012-2013 academic year and has continued to be reputable and have a strong presence on the University at Albany campus and in the community at-large. This is a group with active programming, positive marketing, high recruitment and all-around success.
