Office of the Vice President
Marc Cohen is the Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of the University at Albany Student Association. He is a junior in the Honors College, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Philosophy. Before joining the Great Dane community, Marc attended Williamsville East High School located in his hometown of Buffalo, NY.
Marc is no stranger to the Student Association having served as a Senator representing Dutch Quad, Assistant Director of Legislative Affairs, Director of Legislative Affairs, and most recently as Chief of Staff. Outside of the Student Association Marc is on the Board of Directors for University Auxiliary Services, a Purple and Gold Student Ambassador, a hearing officer on the Judicial Conduct Board, a member of the Presidential Honors Society, a board member on the Student Health Advisory Council, a brother of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and a graduate of the Emerging Student Leaders Program.
As a Senator, Marc worked to improve the relationship between students and the Student Association Leadership. He encouraged students to attend Senate sessions and voice their questions, ideas, opinions and concerns. With his work with the Legislative Affairs Department, Marc met with more than 20 legislators to advocate for issues such as Capital Investment and TAP increases. Under his direction, the Department held voter registration drives to encourage students to engage in the civic process. Marc worked with several organizations on campus to better promote registration efforts. As Chief of Staff, Marc served as the principal advisor to the President of the Student Association. In this capacity Marc attended dozens of club meetings and met with hundreds of students in an effort to increase involvement, answer questions, and hear ideas.
As Vice President, Marc looks forward to continuing to advocate for the nearly 13,000 undergraduate students at UAlbany. Marc constantly works to ensure open communication between students and University administration, enhance transparency throughout the Student Association, bridge the gap between the Capital Region community and the students at UAlbany, and work with the Executive Board to make every student’s experience as an undergraduate the best it can be.
