James Scott is currently a junior majoring in Human Biology at the University At Albany. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY James was faced with many challenges such as crime & violence but instead of assimilating into the norms of his environment, James used the negativity he was surrounded by as motivation to become an exceptional role model & leader. As a result of the wide range of experiences James has encountered during his upbringing, he has devoted his time to making sure he gives everything he does 110%.

Due to the fact that James gives his all to his craft people started to recognize his efforts and he was therefore able to develop a large network on the University at Albany campus. However, it was not only his hard-work and dedication that enabled James to establish such a network, in addition he was very heavily involved in various student groups on campus before his affiliation with the Student Association. Some of his involvement on campus includes being the president of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship Incorporated, part of the public relations team for Albany State University Black Alliance (ASUBA), general member of Minority Association of Premedical Students, Resident Assistant & now the director of marketing for Student Association. James is a prime example of where exactly hard-work and dedication can take you. He has truly accomplished his mission/vision of becoming a role model & leader for others.

Besides everything James has done to further himself, he also stresses the importance of community service & giving back to the less fortunate. One of the very first organizations he joined upon his arrival on campus was Reclassifying All Children Equally (RACE) which is one of the biggest community service organizations on campus. During his involvement with RACE he was able to participate in various community service initiatives such as raising money for a good cause such as autism, helping various organizations host events for the youth, & distributing refreshments during large scale initiatives. Not only did he take part in community service initiatives with RACE he also did the same with ASUBA. In the course of his involvement with ASUBA James was able to perform community service at nationally recognized establishments such as the Ronald McDonald house where he was able to assist in the care of the families with children in a nearby hospital. Furthermore, James also performed over 3,000 hours of community service with Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship Incorporated. His organization has their own Adopt-A-Highway in which they maintain 2-3 times a month, helped build houses for the underprivileged & also performed at various events for a good cause such as the "Stop The Gun Violence" rally.

In addition his involvement with community service organizations, social organizations, charities, Residential Life, students & clubs James has managed to do exceptionally well in regards to his academics. He has appeared on the Deans List every semester since fall 2012 & currently holds a 3.75 GPA. Along with his appearances on the Deans List, James is also a member of the National Honor Society for Collegiate Scholars which is one of the most prestigious honor societies in the nation containing only the top 20% of students at each university. James is also a proud recipient of various awards such as the Community Engagement Award for a clash of the quads flash mob initiative awarded by The Department of Residential Life, Organization of the year for Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship Incorporated (2013) awarded by the University At Albany, & Image Award from NAACP for a program entitled "The Stolen Legacy".

As the marketing director for the Student Association James' primary goal is to make sure that YOU the student body knows about all the events, opportunities and initiatives the Student Association has to offer. James plans to graduate May 2016 and attend medical school in hopes to pursue a career in anesthesiology.
