Department of Legislative Affairs
Jamie Zieno was appointed Legislative Affairs Director for the UAlbany Student Association in May 2014. He is currently a third year student at the University at Albany, majoring in political science, with an anticipated May 2015 graduation. Prior to serving as Legislative Affairs Director, Jamie represented students as a Senator At-Large for the Student Association Senate.
Jamie has made his time at UAlbany a worthwhile experience. Just days into freshman year, he joined the College Democrats club and became an active member. He was elected the club’s secretary in October 2012, vice president in December 2012 and in April 2013 was elected president for the 2013-2014 academic year. Through his tenure with the College Democrats club, Jamie has gained important experience and connections with capital region politics, which will be an important asset to the Student Association’s Legislative Affairs Department.
Additionally, Jamie has taken advantage of UAlbany’s unique location as the capital of New York State. During the Spring 2013 semester, Jamie worked as an intern in the Albany office of United States Congressman Paul Tonko. The following spring semester, Jamie completed a full-time internship with the New York State Assembly. The Legislative Affairs Department will be served well by someone who has experience on the local, state and national levels of government.
