Office of the Student Advocate
Michaela Torres is a sophomore in UAlbany majoring in Biology with a minor in Theatre. She hopes to go to dental school after graduation. This is her first year working with Student Association, and she is thrilled to expand her new position as Student Advocate. Michaela will be available to help those who find themselves tangled up in situations on or off campus. She also hopes to be a connection for individual students to the SA.
Michaela is currently involved with multiple student groups such as the Pre-Med Club, Liga Filipina, Theatre Council, Project SHAPE, and UA Musical Theatre Association. She is an active member of the Spirit Street Team, so you might see her around with Lil' D on special events! She is also the Treasurer for the Sketchy Characters, who puts together free comedy shows every Saturday in the Wendy's Lounge! She has performed in multiple productions at the PAC such as HAIR!, The Laramie Project, and Sketchy Characters PAC Shows. Michaela has also received the Dr. Seth Spellman Achievement Award, and was elected Secretary for the NSCS. She is an alumni and a mentor for the Emerging Student Leaders, where she learned most of her leadership skills. She hopes to volunteer in a hospital this year, and participate with as much community service events possible.
Michaela is excited to work with her fellow students this year, and she is more than willing to help anyone facing conflicts on or off campus. She has office hours available, or an appointment can be set up if necessary. Please feel free to approach or email her with any problems, concerns, questions, or even if you just want to stop by and chat!
